Mentor-Mentee Compacts

Communication and alignment of expectations is critical for successful mentorship. A mentoring compact is a document through which mentors and mentees articulate their expectations and commitments to one another.

The Center for Improved Mentoring Experiences in Research (CIMER) provides a collection of sample compacts for a variety of disciplines and purposes.

The Science of Effective Mentoring in STEMM

The Science of Effective Mentoring in STEMM committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) systematically compiled and analyzed current research on the characteristics, competencies, and behaviors of effective mentors and mentees in STEMM and developed a practical resource guide for mentoring practitioners to create and support viable, sustainable mentoring support systems.

Resources include an online guide, a podcast series, commissioned paper, and a report of the committee’s work and findings.
